На месте событий для оказания первой помощи был развернут полевой лагерь. В эвакуации тел погибших и перемещении раненых между медучреждениями Цфата, Нагарии, Хайфы, Тверии и Иерусалима участвовали военные.

БАКУ, 30 апр — Sputnik. Жертвами давки на религиозном празднике в Израиле стали 44 человека, пострадали более 100, сообщает РИА Новости со ссылкой на газету Jerusalem Post.

Ранее сообщалось о 38 погибших.

Как рассказал журналистам директор волонтерской медицинской организации United Hatzalah Эли Поллак, инцидент произошел, когда толпа паломников пыталась попасть в еще закрытый религиозный комплекс.

В результате возникшей давки десятки людей были прижаты к заборам. Изначально поступала информация, что ЧП могло спровоцировать обрушение трибун. Полиция Израиля начала расследование инцидента.

Премьер-министр страны Биньямин Нетаньяху назвал произошедшее "тяжелой катастрофой" и отметил, что "молится об исцелении раненых", пишет издание Srugim.

Встреча Лаг ба-Омера стала первым массовым мероприятием в Израиле после отмены антиковидных ограничений. В мероприятии принимали участие до 100 тысяч человек.

Во время праздника с традиционным разжиганием костров паломники посещают расположенную на горе Мерон могилу рабби Шимона Бар-Йохая и чтят память жертв эпидемии, которая на рубеже I и II веков нашей эры унесла жизни нескольких тысяч человек.
